 | On Monday, December 8, 2008, Morten Harlem presented the Diamond Award for safety to Paul LaVanway, President, LignoTech USA, Inc. This award represents the achievement of 5 years worked without a lost time injury at the Rothschild, Wisconsin facility.

Over the past few years the company has, through focus and effort, made improvements to our safety results and performance. Over the last year Borregaard LignoTech have been working with DuPont Safety Resources to help the company specifically to change our organisation’s culture and behaviour.
As a result of everyone’s efforts Borregaard LignoTech are now at the point where the H value is ZERO.
- This is a fantastic achievement and we would like to thank everyone for helping to make Borregaard LignoTech a safe place to work. An H value of 0 does not mean that the job is complete. We still have to eliminate the risks of an accident occurring. We are doing this through the guidance of our Safety Leadership Team and three Task Teams focused on Standards and Procedures (headed by Tony Young), Observations and Dialogues (headed by Marino Rodriguez) and Communication, Awareness and Training (headed by Barry Parkin). These Task Teams are involving a lot of people in activities which is moving our organization in the right direction. We greatly appreciate the efforts of everyone involved. Please keep up the good work that is moving us towards our vision of:
“BLT shall be the safest Company in the communities we operate and within the Orkla Group. Our employees shall come to zero harm in our workplaces.“, says Vice President Morten Harlem and Manufacturing Director George Marshall of Borregaard Lignotech in a statement issued to all employees. |
